About

The Solid Waste Management Coordinating Board (SWMCB) worked from 1990 through 2017 to increase the efficiency and environmental effectiveness of the region's solid waste management system and save taxpayer dollars. SWMCB developed Rethink Recycling to be a go-to guide for waste and recycling in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We want to help residents and businesses in the region understand the need to make environmentally responsible purchasing, disposal, and recycling decisions in their daily lives. Responsible disposal of unwanted items is necessary for a healthy environment and helps protect public health. Commercial building owners that contract for four cubic yards or more per week of solid waste collection must implement recycling of at least three types of materials, such as paper, glass, plastic, metal and organics. Let us help you prepare. Call your county to help you.
