Joel Sherburne and David Buchkosky are both Graduate Gemologists, of the Gemological Institute of America and Certified Gemologists Appraisers of the American Gem Society. As CGA they are retested annually. Accredited Gem Lab. We specialize in creating custom one-of-a-kind jewelry designs, jewelry repair with same-day services, stone setting, full restoration of jewelry, casting, fabrication, hand wax carving, eye glass frame repair, professional appraisal services, & MORE!

Experience 
As a CGA since 1989, Joel has executed hundreds of professional appraisals which have withstood the crucial third party test. He writes appraisal, (with photographs) which are accurate, fair, and detailed to protect the involved parties. 

Joel Sherburne 
In 1975 Joel completed work at the Gem City School of Horology in Jewelry Manufacturing Arts. Two days later, he opened his first jewelry bench shop in Stillwater, Minnesota. In 1989 Joel completed his Graduate Gemologists credential from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). That year he also earned the Certified Gemologist Appraiser (CGA) title, the highest appraisal title awarded by the American Gem Society. 

CGAs are tested each year by the American Gem Society (AGS), to retain their titles: Joel was formerly a partner in Sherburne's Gold and Gems in Stillwater from 1975 to 1994. Joel and his wife Dorothy opened Joel B. Sherburne Jewelers in downtown White Bear Lake in October of 1994.
