News & Views | Vadnais Heights arrival of spring with a scavenger hunt through Vadnais Heights! The scavenger hunt will bring participants to parks and public locations across Vadnais Heights. Completed hunts can be returned to City Hall for a free goodie bag (while supplies last)! The hunt can be done at any time and at your own pace. Learn more at cityvadnaisheights.com/scavengerhunt. Reflections from the Lake Hydrant Flushing Every spring, City crews flush fire hydrants, to help maintain water quality. Hydrant flushing is scheduled the week of May 1 north of County Road F and the week of May 8 south of County Road F. This schedule may vary a few days either way. Please keep cars away from hydrants in these areas between the hours of 8 am and 3 pm. Cloudy or discolored water may be present while hydrant flushing is taking place. There is no health risk with this water and the cloudiness should clear up by letting your taps run. During this time be cautious. when doing your laundry, especially whites. Recreational Fire Regulations Recreational fires shall be subject to the following: They shall be located no closer than 35 feet from a principal structure, 25 feet from any other structure, and ten feet from a lot line; They shall be located within a fire pit surrounded by rocks, concrete, or metal; They shall not exceed three feet in diameter or three feet in height; They shall not be allowed if wind is causing smoke to blow into other homes; The fire shall be constantly attended by a responsible adult; A supply of water (such as a garden hose) shall be readily available; A five foot clear zone around the fire shall be maintained from any combustible material; Recreational fires are limited to one location per parcel of property. The fire chief or his designee will have the authority to place a ban on recreational fires when, in his discretion, circumstances warrant such restriction.
