News & Views | Vadnais Heights Mayor Connections Share your ideas with the mayor at one of his Meet the Mayor events. Due to the holidays there will be no Breakfast with the Mayor in December, and no office hours on the fourth Wednesday. The 2026 schedule will be posted soon on the city website. Winter Activities Registration is open for winter recreation activities! Youth activities include Learn to Snowshoe, Little Naturalists, and Basketball. Adult programs include Volleyball Open Gym, Master Gardener Virtual Programs, Tai Chi Chuan, Learn to Snowshoe, and the Speaker Series. More Information available at cityvadnaisheights.com/register. Look for more collaborative programs with AFSA! Classes include Holiday Cookie and Candy Making, Winter Wreath Making, Penguin Plushies, Winter Watercolor, Self-Defense, Beginner Printmaking-Pet Portraits, and The Art and Science of Plant Propagation. Classes will be held at AFSA, 100 Vadnais Boulevard, and are for a variety of ages. Food Shelves There are two food shelves serving the Vadnais Heights area. The Vadnais Heights Lions Club Foundation runs a monthly food shelf. Distributions are the third Saturday of every month at the Vadnais Heights Commons, 655 East County Road F. The Food Shelf is open f cityvadnaisheights.com twitter.com/Vadnais Heights Facebook.com/CityVH for extended hours in November and December from 9-11 a.m. Distribution of food is allowed to any family in need who are considered lower income; qualifying individuals can register day-of. For donations make checks payable to the Vadnais Heights Lions Club Foundation and drop off or mail c/o Vadnais Heights City Hall. Monetary donations allow food shelves to take advantage of special pricing and fill gaps from donations. Wish-list items include pantry staples, peanut butter, baby items, beverages, after-school type snacks such as crackers, applesauce, granola bars, cookies, personal and cleaning care items. The White Bear Area Food Shelf is also available for those in need. Instructions for curb-side pickup and the community market are available online. For those wishing to donate to the food shelf check out the donation match and the wish-list of items. Holidays Fire Safety The National Fire Prevention Association notes the increase in home fires during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Residents are encouraged to review electrical safety and not overload outlets, not to crowd stoves and heating elements, not leave cooking unattended, and make sure fire alarms and smoke detectors are in good working order.
