News & Views | Vadnais Heights Adopt-a-Drain The Vadnais Heights Green Team is sponsoring an Adopt-A-Drain event with an ONLY RAIN DOWN THE DRAIN theme. Participants are asked to come to City Hall on Saturday, October 26 at 9:00 with a pair of gloves ready to work on clearing leaves and rubbish from drains in Vadnais Heights. Area maps will be given to spread out the workers. Bags and vests from the City will be provided. This will take about 90 minutes. Money Smart for Older Adults This free presentation will cover common types of scams and highlight the warning signs that can help in identifying suspicious activities. Attendees will learn strategies for prevention, protect personal information, and report suspicious activities. November 14 10:30am-noon at City Hall RSVP to katie.everett@ cityvadnaisheights.com or call 651-204- 6060. 2024 Scarecrow Trail The City is now accepting entries for the 2024 Scarecrow Trail at Community Park. Free to participate, and all are invited to build a scarecrow creation. People's Choice awards will be determined by votes for the top entry in each category, and all entries will be considered for the Mayor's Choice Award! Sign up is required at cityvadnaisheights. com/scarecrow. The trail will be open October 24-November 1. Halloween Party The 2024 Halloween Party will be cityvadnaisheights.com twitter.com/Vadnais Heights | Facebook.com/CityVH Friday, October 25 from 5-7pm at Community Park. Enjoy a food truck, Scarecrow Trail, and a costume parade! Treat bags provided by the Vadnais Heights Fire Relief Association. Volunteers needed-contact City Hall if interested. Leave the Leaves! While "cleaning up" leaf litter, dead plant stems, and sticks may seem like the neighborly thing to do, these actions are negatively impacting some of our most important neighbors - our pollinators! Pollinators and beneficial insects need homes to sleep or lay eggs in during winter. Leave the Leaves, sticks, and twigs this fall and welcome pollinators back into your yard. Not a property owner but passionate about pollinators? Talk to your property management about installing native plantings. Native plantings can reduce maintenance costs including irrigation and mowing, protect pollinators, and provide amenities to residents.
