THE CLERK'S CORNER-Greetings from The Township Summer has begun! After a very wet April & May, we have been hit with one of the driest Junes on record. PLEASE be aware of watering restrictions within the Township per ordinance & do your part to stay within an acceptable amount of water use. Further, along the lines of conservation, the Township does provide rebate programs for increased water use efficiency through water system audits & additional rebates to help with the purchase of WaterSense Toilets, a well as Energy Star Clothes Washers & dishwashers. Talk to our Township staff as to what may be available to you. Finally, I am pleased to announce that the Township has entered into a partnership with our neighbors in Gem Lake through providing Public Works Services! With this responsibility we have taken on an additional staff member to help with the increase in our workload. Stay cool! DON'T FALL INTO THE JAPANESE BEETLE TRAPPING TRAP The adult The event started in 1984 with the display of outdoor apanese beetles have been munching lights & front porch vigils. Materials&items for distribution at block parties will be distributed to their antenna, the beetles are invited to come on over & the beetles end up both inside & outside of the trap & meanwhile are emitting more pheromones which attract more beetles. Estimates show that only 75% of the beetles attracted to a trap actually end up in the trap so in the end, you can be drawing large numbers of beetles to your area while only capturing some of them which in the end leads to more vegetation damage than if no traps had been placed. Since the Japanese beetles aren't going anywhere Minnesotans will have to learn to live with them & for your most prized plants, tapeetles off the plant & into a bucket of soapy water.
