Vadnais Heights Parks Stewards The City is looking for volunteers for the Vadnais Heights Parks Stewards, a team of volunteers focused on maintaining the natural landscapes within Vadnais Heights. Work will include native plant care, invasive species removal, and other projects to maintain habitat in wilder spaces. Sign up to be included in the Parks Steward Volunteer Pool and you'll be contacted as volunteer opportunities arise. No experience is required to join; volunteers will be provided with two to three hours in length and will involve travelling on rough terrain. It supports and encourages residents to: plant native flowers, bushes, vines, and trees; purchase plants not treated with pesticides; minimize use of insecticides; leave the leaves; and talk to neighbors about the importance of native pollinators tools and training. Lawn Sprinkling Policy in Effect The city has a lawn watering policy from June 1 to September 15 to ensure for residents on the municipal system an adequate supply to meet consumer and emergency needs. Homes and businesses whose addresses end with an even number may water on even- numbered days; homes and businesses whose addresses end with an odd number may water on odd-numbered days. No watering may occur between 12:00 noon and 6:00 p.m. Recreational Fire Regulations Recreational fires shall be subject to the following: Located no closer than 35 feet from a principal structure, 25 feet from any other structure, and ten feet from a lot line; Fires must be within a fire pit surrounded by rocks, concrete, or metal not to exceed three feet in diameter or three feet in height; Fires shall not be allowed if wind blows smoke into other homes; The fire shall be constantly attended by a responsible adult; A supply of water shall be readily available; A five foot clear zone around the fire shall be maintained from any combustible material; Recreational fires are limited to one parcel of property.
